NetherRealm Studios has officially confirmed that Mortal Kombat 1 will not receive any additional major content updates beyond Kombat Pack 2. This announcement comes after the studio completed its planned post-launch roadmap, which included the Khaos Reigns expansion and multiple character additions.
The final content pack, Kombat Pack 2, introduced iconic fighters such as the T-1000 from Terminator 2: Judgment Day and Conan the Barbarian, further diversifying the game’s roster. Before that, the Khaos Reigns expansion, released in September 2024, brought back fan-favorites like Noob Saibot while also reimagining classic characters Cyrax and Sektor as armored female warriors.
Despite previous hints at extended post-launch support, NetherRealm Studios ultimately decided to wrap up major content updates due to the underperformance of the Khaos Reigns expansion. While new Kombat Packs and story expansions were initially considered, they have since been canceled.
Though no further major DLC is planned, the studio reassured fans that Mortal Kombat 1 will continue to receive balance patches and minor gameplay updates to refine the experience. This ensures that the competitive scene and casual players alike will still have a polished and well-supported game.
