5. Fairy Tail 2 – December 13
Fairy Tail is a shonen manga and anime series, which got a JRPG adaptation. The sequel, Fairy Tail 2, is a JRPG by developer Gust, which means it’s probably going to score in the 65-75/100 region. This might be a great pick up for fans of the anime, or diehard JRPG fans. But for everyone else, Gust is really gonna have to up their game if they want Fairy Tail 2 to be a beloved success. This is the game on The Top 5 Video Games Arriving in December 2024 that really lucked out getting a mention, due to a lack of competition. Fairy Tail 2 will be available for everything except Xbox.
4. Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered – December 10
Anyone who owned a PS1 in its day will remember Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver. It’s a third person adventure game where players control a soul sucking vampire, who travels between planes of existence. Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered is a collection of that PS1 classic and its PS2 sequel. This collection has gotten a fair amount of attention since its announcement earlier this year. Hopefully successful sales will lead to a remastered collection of the Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen games. Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered will be available for all consoles and PC.
3. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind – December 10
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind is a 2D side-scrolling beat ’em up. It’s a spiritual successor to the Power Rangers beat ‘em ups for the Super Nintendo. Hopefully this newest retro beat ‘em up is closer to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge in quality, and less like G.I. Joe: Wrath of Cobra. It does promise some on-rails levels to shake things up, and a story that covers the original TV series’ greatest moments. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind is an obvious entry for The Top 5 Video Games Arriving in December 2024. It will be available on all consoles and PC.
2. Fantasian: Neo Dimension – December 5
Fantasian is a 2021 JRPG developed by Mistwalker, the studio founded by Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi. It has a unique art style involving handcrafted and photographed diorama environments. The problem with this recipe for success is that it was released as an Apple Arcade game, which was a service not many people had. It was also a service that encouraged all the BS that goes along with creating mobile JRPGs, such as microtransactions and ludicrous grinding. Fantasian is finally getting a console release, courtesy of Square Enix, called Fantasian: Neo Dimension. This console version promises all kind of improvements, including doing away with all evidence that it began as a mobile game. This long-awaited JRPG is a contender for the top spot on The Top 5 Video Games Arriving in December 2024. It will be available for both PlayStations, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, and PC.
1. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle – December 9
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is the #1 game in The Top 5 Video Games Arriving in December 2024. It’s a first person adventure game, based on the Indiana Jones film universe. The game’s original narrative takes place between Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade, and will have a cinematic presentation. While the Indiana Jones character model has Harrison Ford’s likeness, it’s voiced and motion-captured by Troy Baker. Indiana Jones was a staple of early 90s PC adventure games, so it’s really cool to see him make a comeback in a modern triple-A title. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will be available for Xbox Series X/S and PC, with a PS5 port coming in 2025.
