David Hayter shares inspiring message with Metal Gear Solid fans ahead of Delta’s release

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater may not have a concrete release date as yet, but Konami and team have been slowly drip-feeding trinkets of information that suggest it’ll land sooner rather than later. The latest news comes from an exclusive via IGN, which managed to get some of the main voice actors in the game to sit down and chat about Delta.

Naked Snake actor David Hayter was joined by Eva voice star Suzetta Minet (real name Jodi Benson) and The Boss actor Lori Alan. Minet, it turned out, was a pseudonym in the original game, as she was associated with more child-friendly productions at the time, including voicing Aerial in Disney’s The Little Mermaid.

The actors discussed how it felt to reprise their roles after 20 years and took some time to thank the long-standing fans of the series. “Thank you, thank you, thank you for believing in us and the story,” said Alan. “We now have this community of people, of artists, cosplay… there’s such a huge legacy for everyone in this world, clearly not just us. I’m just so grateful.”

Benson added: “I’m excited for the old fans and the new fans to be able to enjoy Delta and be able to see that they can do anything. They are courageous, they can be brave, they can be bigger than life, they can do hard things.”

The final word was given to Hayter, who shared his message with the fans. “I hope people can step into this world, old and new fans alike and feel as though they can take on anything, that they can take down their own personal Metal Gear, no matter what that means to them in their lives,” he said. “So, go forth and always remember, you’re pretty good.”

Konami has been keeping a release date close to its chest, but we do know that Delta is fully playable from the start to the finish. We also know that a lot of the original voice actors have been back in the studio recording new lines, although how much additional content remains to be seen. Konami has confirmed ‘most’ of the Easter eggs in the original game will be present in Delta, which suggests there may be some omissions.
